Applications

The FMU30 is used for continuous non-contact level measurement of liquids, slurries, white lime, and coarse solids in simple applications. It cannot be used for measurement when foam is present.

Function

The sensor directly emits ultrasonic pulse signals toward the surface of the medium. The pulse signals are reflected off the medium's surface, and the reflected signals are received by the sensor. The instrument measures the time difference between the transmitted and received pulse signals. Based on the time difference and the speed of sound, the distance between the sensor diaphragm and the medium surface is calculated.

Although the probe part of the FMU30 has an IP68 protection rating, the transmitter is IP66.

When installing the FMU30 ultrasonic level meter outdoors, a sunshade must be added.
If the FMU30 ultrasonic level meter is installed outdoors without a sunshade protective cover, under direct sunlight:
1. Temperature changes can cause significant ultrasonic measurement errors;
2. The maximum operating temperature of the FMU30 is 60°C. Direct sunlight at noon may raise the temperature above 60°C, leading to instrument damage;
3. On rainy days, the IP66 protection rating may not completely prevent rainwater from leaking into the instrument transmitter, causing damage to the instrument!
